Catholic Community Life

Fourth Sunday of LentLent.jpg

In this week’s Gospel, Jesus tells Nicodemus that the Son of Man will be raised up so that those who believe in him will have eternal life. We learn that Jesus made up for all our sins by dying on the cross. It wasn’t fair that he should die for sins he didn’t commit, but he wanted us to be able to start over.  After he died, he gave us the Holy Spirit so that we could be strong enough to say no to sin. The Gospel says that if we believe all that Jesus did for us, we will someday live with him in heaven.

As a family, pray this prayer together the Act of Contrition-

My God,
I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.
In choosing to do wrong
and failing to do good,
I have sinned against you
whom I should love above all things.
I firmly intend, with your help,
to do penance,
to sin no more,
and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.
Our Saviour Jesus Christ
suffered and died for us.
In his name, my God, have mercy.

Mini Vinnies Social Justice Workshop
Last Thursday, our Mini Vinnies participated in a Social Justice Workshop run by our St Vincent de Paul Youth School Liaison Officer. K-2 students looked closely at the meaning of the St Vincent de Paul logo and explored some of the social justice issues in our local community. 3-6 students explored the Principles of Catholic Social Teaching and began to reflect on how these relate to some of the ‘good works’ that Vinnies does for others.

Our Mini Vinnies are currently planning a special event for the Knock On Effect Appeal. More information to be sent home soon!
